Tutor: Danny Meadows-Klue:

Marketers in all sectors struggle with the challenges of integrating their communications, especially now the digital channels (web, email, search, mobile etc) have become so diverse. In pharma there’s the added challenge of regulation, but that does not in any way prevent many activities in digital marketing and research. The content and roles of websites, and the way marketers can listen to their customers, are key tools all brands should be harnessing.

It was very kind of so many firms to invite me to give some advice about how to approach blended digital marketing – in particular social networks and communities – and I’m conscious that all I could do was provide a little navigation about how to be more effective in marketing. The routes for engaging with social media, the steps brands can take to get started, the challenges for advertising in social spaces, the importance of transparency and respect in this new democratised landscape – all these issues pharma firms need to tackle head on.

Following the integrated mantra I’ve been teaching for over a decade, this week’s conference keynotes and workshops have been supported by a Digital Insight Report on the key action-points, pages in the online classroom @ Digital for some discussion about how to harness it, and if you find these useful and need a hand applying it to your firm, then I’m running digital marketing coaching workshops on social media every couple of months. (If some of your colleagues would like to take part - or if you’d just like them to get the research - then simply mail me back).

Let me know if the notes were useful for your team
