Teaching in 20 countries
Digital’s tutors taught in 20 countries last year to help share best practice in digital publishing and online marketing. Several countries now have their own national classrooms running and regular programmes of activity within us. Most of our tutors are based in the UK and follow a syllabus we design and maintain centrally. Each international course is customised with fresh case studies, data and marketing models, with national tutors and partners supporting the workshops by adding their expertise and insight. In 2008 we are training in 20 countries across Europe, Asia, North America, Africa and the Middle East.

We’ve been taking part in events in Denmark since 2003 and ran the first public access Digital Media Sales Academy in 2006. The market is highly advanced and the internet trade association already over ten years old. Media owners have a long and successful history in online publishing and the newspapers have particularly rich and deep content. It is one of the most advanced internet marketing economies in the world with one of the highest proportions of online marketing spend, ensuring that the models for how the web is used in the media mix are also among some of the most advanced.
It may be one of Europe’s smallest digital economies, but we have been helping teams in Zagreb with the development of the sector since 2006. In 2007 we ran a Digital Marketing Academy at the country’s inaugural internet marketing conference and in 2008 launched the first Digital Media Planning Academy for advertisers as well as their agencies. The market is keen to catch up with Western Europe and the questions we get asked about social media are exactly the same as those in London or Paris.
Having helped in the acceleration of the Mexican internet industry, and the creation of their internet marketing trade association, we ran the first Digital Media Planning Academy for dozens of advertisers as well as their agencies. Although we had been training media owners for much longer, we’re finding that the Mexican market is keen to catch up with its northern neighbour and apply the latest thinking in online targeting, search and customer acquisition marketing.
We’ve been taking part in events in Netherlands since 2001 and running in-company training since 2006. The Netherlands is one of the most advanced internet marketing economies in the world with one of the highest proportions of the advertising sector’s investment going into online.
We’ve been taking part in events in Poland since 2001 and running regular training since early 2007. The fast growing Polish economy is leapfrogging straight to the smartest technologies and the best internet solutions. It was particularly interesting for us that the training people first asked for in Poland was the most advanced series of Masterclasses so that leading agencies could keep pushing ahead the boundaries of digital marketing.
Digital’s team had been taking part in events in Stockholm for several years and the first Digital Training Academy programmes launched in Sweden at the start of 2008. These public access training programmes began with the Digital Media Sales Academy and a collection of lessons from the Digital Media Planning Academy and instantly started impacting on the way Swedish firms saw the potential for internet media and marketing. As one of the leading internet markets with exceptionally high adoption rates for mobile technology, the digital marketing community is sophisticated and savvy.
